What is OLAPC?

OLAPC stands for Oregon Liberal Arts Placement Consortium.  It is a cooperative organization founded in 1989 to enhance the career services offered by member institutions. The primary goal of the organization is to organize the annual First Avenue Career and Graduate School fair.

What institutions are members of OLAPC?

Eastern Oregon University, George Fox University, Lewis & Clark College, Linfield College, Pacific University, Reed College, University of Portland, Western Oregon University, and Willamette University are all members of OLAPC.

Where and when is the 2009 First Avenue Career & Graduate School Fair?

The fair is on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 10am – 4pm in the Chiles Center at the University of Portland.  During this time you have an opportunity to meet with students about summer jobs, internships, full-time and graduate school opportunities. If you would like to have an in-depth conversation with a student, an interviewing area will be available for you.

Is this fair for seniors only?

No.  All undergraduate students are invited as well as alumni of the OLAPC schools that graduated within the past ten years. However, graduate students and those a part of professional schools at these colleges are not permitted to attend.

How many students can I expect to meet?

Each year between 500 and 700 students participate in the First Avenue Career & Graduate School Fair

Can I hire for internships, part-time and summer positions?

Yes.  Many students will be at the Fair seeking out these positions.

Will I meet students seeking entry-level positions?

There will be many soon-to-be graduates and recent alumni seeking full-time positions.

How much does it cost to attend?

Registration Fees

Early Bird Registration (Before March 1st)

Businesses & Vendors - $350.00
Non-Profit and Government Employers - $75.00
Associations - $75.00
Graduate Schools - $150.00
OLAPC Member Graduate Schools - $75.00

After March 1st:

Businesses & Vendors - $395.00
Non-Profit and Government Employers - $100.00
Associations - $100.00
Graduate Schools - $200.00
OLAPC Member Graduate Schools - $100.00

Is food provided?

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Breakfast will be available between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be available between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

How much room will I have for my display?

Each organization will be provided a 6 foot table with a tablecloth. In addition, electrical outlets are available

Should I attend even if my company does not have job openings?

Yes.  You are encouraged to participate even if your company does not currently have any job openings.  This is a great opportunity to connect with 500 - 700 students.

What if I want to schedule interviews with students?

An interviewing area will be available between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Feel free to take a student to this area if you would like to have an in-depth conversation with him or her.

What if I want to sponsor the fair?

Organizations are welcome to sponsor the fair. As a sponsoring organization, you will receive registration to the fair, exhibitor preferred location, advanced acknowledgement on the First Avenue website, and recognition in print media and advertising. How do I publicize career opportunities with my organization?

Please post positions for the First Avenue Career & Graduate School Fair on the website during the registration process. If you have opportunities available after the job fair, you are welcome to post them free of charge at Careercenterjobs.org
